Advocacy Team

Advocacy and Family Support

Dorothy Goodman School places pupil advocacy at the heart of its work with nurture and respect leading to increased independence for our children and young people. This teams role is to empower children & young people, their families and practitioners to challenge the status quo ensuring that children & young people reach exceptional outcomes academically, personally and socially.

This is done through Path Planning which places the indivdual at the centre of decision making by working in partnership with children & young people and their wider support networks to be future focused. Children & young people also learn to advocate as part of a group when representing their class at school council.

The advocates working with children and young people also provide extra support with attendance, managing emotions and engaging with learning. They focus on personal development, commuication and will provide specialist input on individual areas such as bereavement when needed.
