Welcome

Dorothy Goodman School is an all age SEN School serving the Leicester, Leicestershire & Warwickshire area with over 420 children & young people on roll. The diversity of the school community means that provision is offered across different sites.

Our children & young people have a wide variety of special educational needs and disabilities including profound and multiple learning disabilities, severe learning difficulties, moderate difficulties and those with Autism.

Some children & young people also have social, emotional and mental health difficulties associated with their learning difficulties.

In recognition of the diversity of our children & young people, education is offered across different sites:

  • Primary Site, located on Stoke Road – for children & young people aged between 4 and 11 years old
  • Secondary Site, located on Barwell Lane – for young people aged between 11 and 16 years old.
  • 6th form, located on Middelfield Lane – for youn people aged between 16 and 19 years old.

In addition, there are four inclusive satellite bases located on the sites of local mainstream schools:

  • Richmond Primary School (EYFS, KS1 & KS2)
  • Ravenhurst Primary School (EYFS, KS1 & KS2)
  • The Hinckley School (KS3. KS4 & KS5)
  • Cleveland House which is also located at The Hinckley School and caters for secondary aged pupils with autistic spectrum conditions who work towards accessing mainstream lessons for 50%-80% of their timetable.

The 6th Form has young people based at Amazon Coalville who complete a supported internship programme in their final year of school. The interns complete their work based learning on site at Amazon with adjusted hours from 12 noon to 6pm.
